134. The Walk to Emmaus

1. In converse with the risen Lord
The two disciples walk;
They listen to his gracious word
And gladly hear him talk.

Refrain:
Their hearts did burn along the way,
While talking with the Lord;
Dear Jesus, help us day by day,
That we may trust your Word.

2. He to their wond'ring minds revealed
The things declared of old,
Disclosed the truth before concealed
By prophets long foretold. [Refrain]

3. "Abide with us at eve," they said,
"And tarry for the night";
They knew him as they broke the bread,
Then vanish'd from their sight. [Refrain]

4. Grant, Lord, that we the truth may learn
From interchange with you,
And make our hearts within us burn
When we your beauties view. [Refrain]
