Text: | Patrick's Evening Hymn |
Translator: | Shane Leslie |
Tune: | ST. AUDOËN |
Composer: | Robert Prescott Stewart |
1. Son of the living God,
Set angels by our head,
To guard the sleep, the holy rest
We take in haloed bed.
2. Oh, may they there reveal
True visions to our sleep,
High Prince above the Universe
Who dost all myst'ry keep.
3. Oh, may no fiend, nor ill,
Nor dream with terror fraught
Come to disturb the swift repose
We have so willing sought.
4. Our vigils sanctify,
Our labors holy keep,
And all unhindered be our rest,
With fair, unbroken sleep.
