1 Day is breaking, night is ended,
And the Lord's day hath ascended
Over church and countryside;
As this day of grace increases,
Light from God the heart appeases,
Heaven’s portal opens wide,

When the solemn bells are ringing,
Calling men to pray'r and praise;

And the burden of the morrow
Shall not fill my heart with care;
Unto all in tribulation

And confess my sin and shame,
