102. An Open Door

1 The Lord has set before us
A wide and open door;
And all may enter in there,
And none may shut it more.
It leads to realms of beauty,
Out from the depths of sin;
It turns on golden hinges,
And all may enter in.

2 Within all’s light and glory;
Outside all’s grief and gloom;
Within, God’s love is beaming,
And flow’rs immortal bloom.
Come, weak and needy sinner,
With all thy guilty store,
Lay down thy heavy burden
Before the “open door.”

3 A welcome waits to greet thee,
A crown laid up in store;
And angels hail thy coming,
Within the “open door.”
A welcome waits to greet thee,
A crown laid up in store;
And angels hail thy coming,
Within the “open door.”
