1 Before the Cross with all my sins
I bowed, and mercy sought;
Salvation soon was mine thro’ grace,
With peace and pardon fraught.

O wondrous Cross! Its triumph see,
Where waves of glory roll;
The starting-point of precious faith,

2 Behind the Cross I hide me now,
That Jesus might appear;
