182. Behold the King

1 Behold the King! go forth to meet Him!
The mighty conq’rer draweth nigh!
The waiting, watching millions greet
Him With shouts that reach the vaulted sky!
He cometh in His fadeless glory,
While the attending legion sings
With on united voice the story
Hosanna to the King of King!

Refrain:
Behold the King! go forth to meet Him!
The mighty conq’rer draweth nigh!
The waiting, watching millions greet
Him With shouts that reach the vaulted sky!
He cometh in His fadeless glory,
While the attending legion sings,
“Hosanna to the Son of David,
To the King of kings.”

2 He comes! and every land and nation
Shall unto Him their homage pay;
He comes! and by His great salvation
Shall gain a universal sway;
His rule and reign shall be all glorious,
For pow’r omnipotent He brings,
And all the earth shall sing victorious
Hosanna to the King of King! [Refrain]

3 Not by the sword or cannon’s rattle,
Not by the force of stern decree,
Not by the crash or noise of battle
Shall His domain established be;
But love and mercy sweetly blending,
Shall spread abroad protecting wings,
Till this shall be the song transcending:—
Hosanna to the King of King! [Refrain]
