302a. Robes and Crowns

1 Earthly monarchs wear a crown,
And are robed in gorgeous hue;
But a brighter robe and crown
Is reserved in heav’n for you.

Chorus:
Crowns of gold, pure gold,
Robes of white, pure white,
We shall wear forever there,
In yonder world of light.

2 Earthly crowns, tho’ lustrous now,
Soon will dim and pale away;
But the crown which Jesus gives
Never, never can decay. [Chorus]

3 Earthly robes, tho’ pure and white,
Soon are soiled and stained with sin;
But the robes which Jesus gives,
Will for evermore be clean. [Chorus]
