82. Glad Surrender

1 O day of glad surrender,
When Jesus made me whole,
When fire from heaven’s alter,
Flashed thro’ and thro’ my soul;
When at the feet of Jesus,
I gave up self and sin,
And found the heav’nly treasure,
Of Christ enthroned within.

Refrain:
I’m glad, I’m glad,
I’m glad I have surrendered;
All hail! All hail!
The pow’r of Jesus’ name.

2 Since I have let my Savior
Assume the full control,
What raptures, O! what raptures,
Abide within my soul;
I’ve heard this blessed promise,
To strengthen and defend,
To go before and lead me,
In triumph to the end. [Refrain]

3 Beholding this bright vision,
My heart has lost its pain,
I’ve reached the land Elysian,
And learned its glad refrain;
The clouds that gathered o’er me,
Before I found this way,
Are gone, and now around me,
Shines life’s unsullied day. [Refrain]

4 Surrendered to His keeping,
Let Jesus take command;
My time, my all committed
To His upholding hand;
His word shall be my counsel,
His smile, my heart’s bright sun,
His service, life’s sweet mission,
His holy will be done. [Refrain]
