Text: | Will You? |
Author: | C. H. G. |
Tune: | [I am a temp'rance advocate] |
Composer: | Chas. H. Gabriel |
1 I am a temp’rance advocate,
I stand for the right;
The subject I will agitate,
And stir up the fight,
‘Till you, and you, and you, and you
Shall with us take a stand
Against the tyrant Alcohol,
And drive him from the land.
Refrain:
Who’ll join our band!
Will you? will you?
Who’ll join our band!
Will you? will you?
There’s not a nobler work to do
For God or man today!
Then give your help and sympathy,
To drive the curse away.
2 Our motto is a noble creed;
‘Tis one that shall win!
‘Twill clothe the poor, the hungry feed,
And wealth it will win;
It means a steady nerve; a brain
That’s clear to comprehend;
An honest heart, and free from stain,
And blessing without end. [Refrain]
3 On ev’ry hand we see the work,
Of rum, gin and wine;
It spareth neither rich or poor—
The dear friend, nor mine,
Then with us put your shoulder to
The wheel and firmly stand,
Then by and by our flag shall wave
Victorious o’er the land. [Refrain]
