50. He Knows

1 Has the day brought hurt and sorrow,
Thou alone must bear?
Nay, there standeth One beside thee,
All thy griefs to share.

Jesus knows ev’ry burden and trial,
And comfort divine He prepares,
That Friend, who will never forsake thee,
He knows, yes, He knows and He cares.

2 Have the hours brought sore preplexings,
Doubts, with no reply?
Think not, there is none regardeth;
Lo, He standeth by. [Refrain]

3 Have the long night-watches brought thee
Pain, thy frame that rends?
Ah, remember, close above thee,
Tenderly He bends. [Refrain]

4 Have the years brought care and burdens,
Anxious, dost thou fear?
Know then, He, the Burden-bearer,
Now is standing near. [Refrain]
