Text: | The Saloon Must Go |
Author: | C. A. M. |
Tune: | [No caste nor creed, nor party pride] |
Composer: | C. Austin Miles |
1 No caste nor creed, nor party pride,
True patriots of our land may know,
But as a unity must decide
The saloon shall go.
Refrain:
Rouse then, patriots!
Not a moment may be lost;
Join this army, rum to overthrow forever;
Forward, freemen!
Right must win at any cost;
This the cry shall ever be,
“The saloon must go.”
2 This cursed crime that blights our land
With life defiled and virtue lost,
Demands that freemen take their stand,
Nor count the cost. [Refrain]
3 Do broken hearts and ruined homes
Demand no respite from their woe?
This be our cry, “Whatever comes,
The saloon must go.” [Refrain]
4 Who dares to face a mighty God,
While rum to this fair land is wed?
A coward he, the path untrod
Who fears to tread! [Refrain]
