666. Thou Art the True and Loving God

1 Thou art the true and loving God;
So speaks whate’er I see,—
The morning star, the evening red,
The grass upon the lea.
The birds both late and early sing—
“O child, He loveth thee,”
On lily, and on roseleaf too,
Thy hand of love I see.

2 The sun in all his splendid god,
With blessings rich doth shine
On good and evil, day and night,
Thy image—Love Divine.
And bless, O Lord, Thy children dear,
In all the good things they do,
We love to do Thy will because
We know that God is True.
