Text: | Thy Dearest Friend |
Author: | Fanny J. Crosby |
Tune: | [O troubled heart, behold and see] |
Composer: | Jno. R. Sweney |
1 O troubled heart, behold and see,
What grace divine hast done for thee;
How step by step, it leads thy way,
To endless joy and perfect day.
Refrain:
Look up and praise in new made songs,
Thy God to whom all praise belongs,
On Him rely, on Him depend,
Thy precious Guide, thy dearest Friend.
2 By cooling streams that murmur low,
In dewy meads where flow’rets grow,
He bids thee rest in safety there,
Beneath His kind and gentle care. [Refrain]
3 Tho’ trials oft thy cup may fill,
His watchful eye is o’er thee still;
His loving arms around thee thrown,
He will not leave thee here alone. [Refrain]
4 There is a smile for ev’ry tear,
A blessed hope for ev’ry fear;
Tho’ clouds may veil a stormy night,
Yet joy will greet the morning light. [Refrain]
