Text: | We'll Trust in God, and All is Well |
Author: | J. H. K. |
Tune: | [We know that God is always near] |
Composer: | J. H. Kurzenknabe |
1 We know that God is always near,
Tho’ oft His face may not appear;
‘Tis with His own beloved hand,
The Lord may send His chastisement.
So prone to fret at slightest pain,
We do forget He heals again.
We wonder why, but cannot tell;
We’ll trust in God, and all is well.
2 Sometimes our way seems hedged with thorns;
Then how the troubled spirit mourns!
We think His face is hid from view
When nearest to refreshing dew;
But when the sun of plenty shines,
And every cloud shows silv’ry lines;
Our hearts with holy rapture thrill;
We’ll trust in God, and all is well.
3 Though troubled waves dash high and wild,
The sea again is calm and mild.
What if the breaker’s roar we hear,
The coast again is bright and clear.
The summer winds sweep o’er the plain,
The sunshine follows after rain;
O how His mercies all excell!
We’ll trust in God, and all is well.
4 When sin and shame our hearts oppress,
The Comforter is near to bless.
We sit and learn at Jesus’ feet
The glories of the mercy-seat;
We picture how the shining band,
Rejoice in the redeemed land;
Then how the songs of triumph swell!
We’ll trust in God, and all is well.
