Text: | Praise the Great Jehovah’s Name |
Author: | Miss F. E. Pettingell |
Tune: | [Praise the great Jehovah's name] |
Composer: | Powell G. Fithian |
1 Praise the great Jehovah’s name,
Far and wide His praise proclaim,
Over all the kings of earth His sceptre reigns,
Kingdoms rise, and kingdoms fall,
But His purpose governs all;
Tell His might, in grand triumphant strains.
Refrain:
Then praise His name with cheerful heart and voice
His service make you glad, your willing choice,
In sweet accord His lofty praises sing,
The only wise, the sov’reign King.
2 Limpid stream, and babbling brook,
Arid sand, and shady nook,
Are His work, the work of His creative skill,
Changing seasons, day and night,
Sun and moon, and stars of light
Are submissive to His holy will. [Refrain]
3 Though He be the Lord of all,
Yet He marks the sparrows’ fall,
To His needy children lends a list’ning ear.
And His father-love extends
To the earth’s remotest ends;
Praise His name, in chorus, loud and clear. [Refrain]
