Text: | Jesus! And Shall It Ever Be |
Author (st. 1): | I. J. Grigg, c. 1722-68 |
1 Jesus! and shall it ever be
A mortal man ashamed of Thee?
Ashamed of Thee whom angels praise,
Whose glories shine through endless days?
2 Never! For Jesus is my Friend,
On whom my hopes of heav'n depend.
He sheds the beams of light divine
O'er this benighted soul of mine.
3 Jesus! May this my glory be:
That He is not ashamed of me!
The Lamb of God, my Savior slain,
Has washed me clean from sin's dark stain.
4 Jesus, the name which we adore,
O make us love Thee more and more!
Thy godness, Jesus, now we sing,
True Man and God, our loving King!
