139. Lambs of the Flock

1. Lambs of the flock, the Shepherd's care,
Dear to his heart the children are;
Into his arms he takes them all,
Close to his bosom lest they fall.

Chorus:
Lambs of the flock, the children dear,
Folded secure, what need they fear?
Tenderly led along the way,
On to the golden gates of day.

2. Better were it that we should be
Drown'd in the depths of yonder sea,
Rather than cause one lamb to stray
Far from the Shepherd's fold away. [Chorus]

3. All must as little ones become
If in the kingdom they find a home;
Swift to obey the Shepherd's call,
Loving him ever more than all. [Chorus]

4. Always for children there is room,
Sweetly the Shepherd bids them come;
"Suffer the children," hear him say,
"Never forbid nor turn away." [Chorus]
