Text: | Jesus, the Guiding Star |
Author: | C. M. S. |
Tune: | [As the sailor on the ocean] |
Composer: | C. M. Seamans |
1. As the sailor on the ocean
Watches the shining star
Passing safe amid the darkness,
Dangerous reef and bar:
So if we would safely journey
Over life's ocean wide,
We must watch the Star of Glory
Jesus the crucified.
Chorus:
Keep your eyes upon the Saviour,
Lest you should wander far;
Dark is the night, bright is our light,
Jesus the Guiding star.
2. Cruel sin is casting wreckage
Daily upon life's shore;
Dying souls in awful sorrow
Shrink from the breaker's, roar.
Drifting on in worldly pleasure
Drifting where dangers are;
There is death to all not watching
Jesus the Guiding Star. [Chorus]
3. We are all upon a voyage
Over the sea of time;
We are ever fondly looking
Toward some happy clime.
But if we would safely enter
Into that port afar,
We must ever look to Jesus
Jesus the Guiding Star. [Chorus]
