15517. My Father's House

1 These are words of Bible lore,
Dear to every Christian heart;
How we long, yet more and more,
Christ to meet and never part;
But the Savior bids us rest
On His promise sweet and true,
In My Father’s house on high
I’ll prepare a place for you.

Refrain:
There are mansions in the sky
For the Christian brave and true;
In My Father’s house on high
I’ll prepare a place for you.

2 Only here a little while,
Then to enter home above,
Where there’s nothing to defile,
All is brightened by His love;
Oh, to be with Jesus there,
Better far than earthly friends,
Sweetest rest forever share,
Blessed rest, it never ends. [Refrain]

3 But while left upon time’s shore,
Let us work with all our might,
For we know ’twill soon be o’er,
There for us ’twill all be bright;
Not the light of sun or stars,
But the Lord Himself the light;
No more death, nor naught that mars
When our faith is changed to sight. [Refrain]
