1 The Lord is ris’n! the empty tomb
Proclaims that Jesus lives again;
The Lord is ris’n! the chilling gloom
The Prince of Life could not retain.
Let all the earth, from sea to sea,
In voice of sweetest melody,
Make known the Savior’s victory,
His wondrous pow’r proclaim.
Let every tongue make haste and tell
His triumphs over death and hell,
And gratefully each anthem swell,
And magnify His name.
2 The Lord is ris’n! the Lord is King,
He comes in triumph from the dead;
The Lord is ris’n! rejoice and sing,
Captivity is captive led,
He rose a victor o’er the grave,
And proofs of sovereign might He gave,
And pledge of pow’r the lost to save
From death’s captivity.
By faith my heart to Him would cling,
In hope my lips exultant sing;
To Heav’n each trusting soul He’ll bring—
His glory I shall see.
