12764. May I Be A Jewel

1 When the day of days shall come,
And our Lord returns again—
Comes in clouds of shining glory
All His faithful ones to claim—
When the victory is gained,
And we lay our trophies down,
May I be a little jewel
In the blessed Savior’s crown.

Refrain:
I will be a loyal soldier,
Tho’ the world may scoff and frown;
Only let me be a jewel
In the blessed Savior’s crown.

2 Here my light may not be seen
By the careless worldly throng,
And they may be few who listen
As I sing my happy song;
But when angels for His own
Come the parted skies adown,
I would be a shining jewel
In the blessed Savior’s crown. [Refrain]

3 In the Bible I have read
How His people then shall shine,
As the flashing stars of Heaven
Midst the glory light divine.
If among the wise I work,
Seeking souls to gain renown,
I shall be a previous jewel
In the blessed Savior’s crown. [Refrain]
