Text: | Parting with Friends |
1 From whence doth this union arise?
That hatred is conquer'd by love,
That fastens our souls with such ties,
That nature and time can't remove.
2 This cannot in Eden be found;
Nor yet in Paradise lost:
It grows in Emmanuels ground,
And Jesus' rich blood it did cost.
3 O, why then, so loth for to part?
Since we, shall ere long meet again,
Engrav'd on Emmanuel's heart,
A distance we can't long remain.
4 Our souls all united in One,
And fix'd with Jesus' love,
Exalted ate Jesus' right-hand,
Exalted by Jesus's love.
5 In the presence of God and the Lord,
Our souls then together shall dwell,
Without ever parting again,
So brethren, I bid you farewell.
