Text: | Awake Ye Saints |
Author: | Philip Doddridge, 1702-1751 |
Tune: | ABRIDGE |
Composer: | Isaac Smith, 1735-1800 |
1 Awake, ye saints, and raise your eyes,
And raise your voices high;
Away, and praise that sov'reign love,
That shows salvation nigh.
2 On all the wings of time it flies,
Each moment brings it near;
Then welcome each declining day,
Welcome each closing year.
3 Ye wheels of nature, speed your course!
Ye mortal powers, decay!
Fast as ye bring the night of death,
Ye bring eternal day.
4 O Father, here our hearts we raise
To Thee in heav'n above;
And at the year's swift close, we praise
Thy providence, and love.
Amen.
