Text: | There's a wideness in God's mercy |
Author: | Frederick William Faber (1814-1863) |
Tune: | ALL FOR JESUS |
Composer: | John Stainer (1840-1901) |
1 There’s a wideness in God’s mercy,
like the wideness of the sea;
there’s a kindness in his justice,
which is more than liberty.
2 There is no place where earth's sorrows
are more felt than in God's heaven:
there is no place where earth's failings
have such kindly judgment given.
3 For the love of God is broader
than the measure of the mind:
and the heart of the Eternal
is most wonderfully kind.
4 If our love were but more simple,
we should take him at his word;
and our lives be filled with glory
from the glory of the Lord.
