1 I know not what to ask,
O Saviour mine;
Be this my earnest pray’r,
O keep me Thine;
Hold Thou my trembling hand,
That I may know
Thou art beside me still,
Where’er I go.
2 I know not what is best,
But Thou can’st see;
Then let me leave it all,
My Lord, to Thee;
Whate’er Thy mercy grants,
Or love denies,
My faith shall turn to Thee
Her grateful eyes.
3 I know not where the path
That I should tread,
Unless Thy gracious light
Is o’er me shed;
I know not if this hour
My last may be,
But this, O Lord, I know,
‘Tis well with me.
