Text: | Forgetting Self in Thee |

Tune: | [We come to ask Thy blessing, Lord] |
Composer: | Hubert P. Main |
1 We come to ask Thy blessing, Lord,
And worship at Thy feet;
O may The Spirit now descend,
While in Thy name we meet;
O grant that thro’ His pow’r divine,
Each heart inspired may be
To follow after righteousness,
Forgetting self in Thee.
2 We come to ask Thy blessing, Lord,
That we may faithful prove,
And from Thy word and Spirit learn
To trust, obey and love;
From pride of heart and vain desire,
O cleanse and make us free,
That we henceforth Thy work may do,
Forgetting self in Thee.
3 We know not how to ask aright,
O help us, Lord, we pray;
Uphold us by Thy heav’nly grace,
And ever guard our way;
Do Thou direct our going forth,
Our Leader ever be;
Then shall we gain the victor’s crown,
Forgetting self in Thee.
