228. Heavenly Places

1 How sweet to be sitting in places all heavenly,
Under the shadow of infinite love;
Enjoying the waters of life everlasting,
That flow from the fountain above.

Refrain:
Heavenly places, heavenly places,
Sitting together in heavenly places,
In Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 The heart may be weary with burdens while wandering
Thro’ earth’s dark wilderness, looking for light;
But riches or grace in the Saviour outnumbering,
Cheer to the realms of delight. [Refrain]

3 E’en mem’ry grows dear of bereavement that burden us,
Anthems of sorrow are brightened to song;
The gates of the city Celestial are opened
To welcome the weary ones home. [Refrain]
