Text: | No Other Friend Like Jesus |
Author: | E. A. H. |
Tune: | [There is not another friend so dear] |
Composer: | Rev. Elisha A. Hoffman |
1 There is not another friend so dear,
No other like Christ to me so near,
As He upon whom for help I lean,
The lord who my rock and stay has been.
Refrain:
He knoweth it all, my struggle and care,
And always is near, my burdens to share.
Oh, what would I do, in trial and woe,
Without the dear friend to whom I can go?
2 When trouble assails, to Him I flee,
And find Him a shelt’ring rock to me;
There is not an hour He is not near,
My fears to allay, my hopes to cheer. [Refrain]
3 No other such comfort can bestow;
No other my needs so well doth know;
No other can soothe my troubled heart,
And such perfect rest to me impart. [Refrain]
4 No darkness can veil His face from me,
Or hinder His love so rich and free;
He promised He ne’er would me forsake,
And Jesus His word will never break. [Refrain]
5 Has ever this friend forsaken one,
Or left him to walk the way alone?
Of this I am ev’ry moment sure,
His love will forevermore endure. [Refrain]
