Text: | O Thou Who didst on earth appear |
Author: | J. Wright |
1 O Thou Who didst on earth appear
Our sin and sorrow to destroy,
Our lives to bless, our souls to cheer,
Give us Thy joy.
2 Thou Who amidst our changeful life
Canst bid each vain commotion cease,
Subdue the angry waves of strife,
Give us Thy peace.
3 Thou Sun divine, Whose beams illume
Our pathway, making all things bright,
Whose glory shines around the tomb,
Give us Thy light.
4 Blest Lord and Saviour, till at last
We see the sweetness of Thy face,
And Time's dark night is over-past,
Give us Thy grace.
5 Thy joy, Thy peace, Thy light, Thy grace,
Thus in Thy loving-kindness given,
Can make earth's darkest, saddest place
As fair as heaven.
