124. Be Ready for the Call

1 There’s a happy day to come,
Yes, ‘tis coming by and by,
When we all may join the white-robed throng,
And praise the Lord on high.
With the angels we shall sing
Joyful praises to our King:
Be ready for the coming of the Lord.

Refrain:
Be ready for the call at morning, noon or night;
Have on the wedding garments and your lamps burning bright.

2 Jesus left us long ago,
And He promised in His word,
To prepare us all a mansion
In the city of our God;
And the time is drawing nigh,
When we’ll meet Him in the sky:
Be ready for the coming of the Lord. [Refrain]

3 Tho’ the path may oft be dark,
And our hearts may weary grow,
And the burdens may oppress us
While we tarry here blow—
Yet we know ‘twill all be o’er,
When we reach that shining shore:
Be ready for the coming of the Lord. [Refrain]

4 What a sad thing it would be,
If, unheeding to His word,
We neglect the preparation
For the coming of the Lord.
Sinner, seek Him while you may,
For there’s danger in delay:
Be ready for the coming of the Lord. [Refrain]
