61. In the Shadow of the Cross

1 At the cross I found my Saviour,
And my boasting there shall be,
For my many sins are pardoned
Thro’ the blood he shed for me.

O my soul in him rejoices,
And the world I count but dross,—

In the shadow of the cross.

2 At the cross I cried for mercy,
Jesus heard my humble prayer;
I was wretched, weak, and helpless,
Till on him I cast my care. [Refrain]

3 At the cross he gave me comfort,
In my darkest hour he came,
And my faith looked up and saw him,
Hallelujah to his name! [Refrain]

4 When among the just made perfect
My Redeemer I shall see,
I will tell, thro’ endless ages,
