177. The Hosts of God

1 Do you hear the tramping of the host?
It is marching on to victory!
A mighty throng,
It moves along;
Before it every foe shall flee.
Hark, to the Captain’s call!
Loyal and willing all.
Onward go, and charge the foe!
Beneath the Mighty he shall fall.

Refrain:
A phalanx strong
They move along,
Christian soldiers, ready for the fight;
The foe is sin,
We’re sure to win!
The victory is with the right!

2 Do you see the banners floating high?
Do you catch their luster clear and bright?
To all the world
Their folds unfurled,
Proclaim the glorious cause of right.
Boldly the fight begin:
Heed not the battle’s win.
Firmly stand, possess the land;
The cause of righteousness will win. [Refrain]

3 Do you hear the song of victory
Floating joyously upon the air:
Roll on, roll on!
It thrills the soul,
Announcing gladness everywhere.
Christ is the Captain brave!
Wide let His banners wave.
Christians sing, your tribute bring!
Your Leader will defend and save. [Refrain]
