132. There’s a Friend in the Homeland

1 There’s a Friend in the homeland far away,
There’s a Saviour calling you today;
He is pleading there
With a love so rare—
Will you heed Him calling now, I pray?
He’s been watching and waiting, oh so long,
Where the bright ones chant in heav’nly song!
From a land so fair,
He is calling there—
Will you join our holy, happy throng?

2 There’s a dear blest Redeemer o’er the strand,
There are angels waiting in that land
For the loved ones here
That were once so near,
They are calling, “Join our happy band!”
There’s a Father who bids us welcome there,
With the ransom’d crowns of life to wear,
On a golden shore,
When our toils are o’er,
In a homeland resting from all care.

Refrain:
There’s a Friend in the homeland far away,
There’s a Saviour calling you today;
He’s been watching and waiting, oh so long,
Where the bright ones chant in heav’nly song!
From a land so fair,
He is calling there—
Will you join our holy, happy throng?
