500. God Of Nations, Throned Above

1 God of nations, throned above,
Mighty Ruler of all men,
For Thy mercy and Thy love
O accept our thanks again.
Richly Thou hast blessed our land,
But so often we forget;
God of Jacob, by Thy hand
Lead our wayward people yet.

2 Kindle still the holy fires,
Lord, extend o'er us Thy rod;
Not in vain our martyred sires
Died for country and for God;
May the freedom they have giv'n
Sign and symbol ever be
Of the liberty from heav'n,
Wherewith Christ hath made us free.

3 Lord, exert Thy gracious sway
O'er the world, from shore to shore,
And to ev'ry nation say:
Ye shall learn to war no more!
He alone can send release
Who for sins was sacrificed;
Hence we pray for endless peace
In the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.
